Golf Course #2- River Greens Golf Course
Alrighty for these blogs I will be talking about the golf courses in the surrounding area of New Concord Ohio! So first off there are probably eight golf courses that I would say are within a reasonable distance of New Concord to make it easy enough to visit all of them. The idea behind my blogs will be to talk about each golf course and help anyone reading these get a better understanding of what each course brings to the table.
The course I will be talking about here is the second one found in West Lafayette, Ohio. Once again anywhere from a forty to fifty minute drive from New Concord this course has everything any golfer could dream of.
So the course I am talking about is River Greens Golf Course. This course has to be one of the nicest public golf courses I have ever been to. They pride themselves in taking care of the course and keeping it in the nicest condition possible.
Over years of getting to play the course I have never seen it in bad shape. They always seem to be on top of things and are never letting the course get into bad shape. For a public golf course that is hard to find and truly the biggest positive of the course.
Following up on other positives would be that there are a number of great facilities on the course. They have a shelter perfect for outings and scrambles for people to gather afterwards. Another cool thing about River Greens is they have two houses they rent out for people to stay in and play golf over the weekend. I find that to be extremely useful for people who may have longer drives than others, but I have never had the need to use one.
The next thing that is great about River Greens is the size of the range. The range allows for dozens of people to be using it at a time so there is never a worry that you won't be able to find a spot and practice no matter what time of the day it is.
Then River Greens is also a twenty-seven hole course. Meaning that they can handle more people than other courses and the chances of playing there is more likely than some other places.
Now looking into the course itself. The first nine holes are short and narrow. Fun for first time golfers and still challenging enough for some casual golfers. The second nine consists of a more balanced narrow and lengthy holes. There are a lot of tough shots all over this nine so you can never get to relaxed while swinging the club. Then the third nine has its fair share of lengthy holes, but nothing to narrow can be found on this side. There is a lot more room to miss and it also has an entertaining set-up of three par threes, three par fours, and three par fives. An all-around great course with greens that roll smooth and fast.
