Golf Course #1- Hickory Flats Golf Course
Alrighty for these blogs I will be talking about the golf courses in the surrounding area of New Concord Ohio! So first off there are probably eight golf courses that I would say are within a reasonable distance of New Concord to make it easy enough to visit all of them. The idea behind my blogs will be to talk about each golf course and help anyone reading these get a better understanding of what each course brings to the table.
The course I will be talking about here is one of the two courses in West Lafayette. Located about forty to fifty minutes away from New Concord this course brings a interesting set of positives when thinking about going to golf there.
The course I am talking about is Hickory Flats Golf Course. This course has a certain atmosphere that is perfect for any golfer no matter the skill level. Now of course this isn't an incredible course that I would recommend to someone trying to find the best in the area, but Hickory Flats is diffidently a good golf course for any golfer looking to have a good time.
Beginner golfers and casual golfers are probably going to have the most fun here. People just starting out will enjoy the amount of roll produced from hard fairways and not so high rough. Also the lack of too many bunkers and lateral hazards makes this a perfect fit for any beginners trying out the game.
I also say this is a good course for casual golfers because once again the amount of roll the course gets will favor anybody and makes the game much more enjoyable by getting that extra ten to fifteen yards every tee shot. The course also can be challenging for casual golfers because although there aren't a lot of lateral hazards and few bunkers the course offers other challenges.
From four different sets of tee boxes to lengthen the course however far you please to a even balance of left and right out of bounds this course isn't going to let every shot go unpunished. The front nine has a tough first four holes containing two par threes that are known for hurting the score card. Past that there is out of bounds for the next two holes left and then the course allows the player to cruise to the turn with a three hole stretch that contains nearly no challenge in the golfer's way.
Once making the turn the golfer is challenged by a back nine with out of bounds left on five of the first six holes. Throw in a narrow par three that can play close to one hundred and seventy yards, and a par five that demands a good tee shot and the back nine can hurt your score in many ways very quick.
Looking past just the course, Hickory Flats is a very down to earth type of feeling which welcomes any golfer no matter how new to the game. Throw in a shelter house good for hosting scrambles and any other outing type and Hickory Flats has anything needed for your basic golf needs.
